About the Director of Global Advocacy Role
The Director of Global Advocacy will report to the Vice President for Global Research and Advocacy and will play a senior leadership role within the organization’s international research and global advocacy work.
The successful candidate will develop and strengthen strategies that transform high-quality research into compelling policy narratives, advocacy materials and campaigns. The position will also involve engagement with decision-makers at global, regional, national and sub-national levels.
A major part of the role will be representing the organization at important international forums, including United Nations meetings, the World Health Assembly and regional intergovernmental gatherings.
The Director will also work closely with NGOs, civil society organizations, multilateral agencies, donors and advocacy coalitions to expand the impact of evidence-based SRHR policy.

Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying global and regional policy opportunities where research evidence can influence decision-making.
- Monitoring political and policy developments related to sexual and reproductive health and rights.
- Advising senior leadership on emerging advocacy opportunities and risks.
- Representing the organization at international and regional conferences and high-level meetings.
- Building relationships with UN agencies, governments, donors, NGOs and civil society coalitions.
- Developing strategic partnerships across sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Translating complex research findings into policy briefs, advocacy toolkits, talking points, position papers and presentations.
- Supporting global advocacy campaigns and digital advocacy initiatives.
- Helping ensure research findings influence international policy discussions, recommendations and resolutions.
- Identifying and cultivating funding opportunities for global advocacy programmes.
- Supporting proposals, budgets and donor engagement.
- Supervising and mentoring advocacy staff and consultants.

Leadership experience is required, including managing teams, mentoring professionals, developing workplans and overseeing advocacy programmes.
A Master’s degree in public policy, international relations, human rights, public health, international development or a related field is required.
