EngenderHealth Hiring Remote Digital Content and Communications Consultant – Apply by 21 August 2026

EngenderHealth is seeking a Digital Content and Communications Consultant to strengthen its external communications and digital engagement efforts. This remote consultancy is an excellent opportunity for communications professionals, digital content creators, journalists, editors and marketing specialists with experience producing engaging content for nonprofit or international development organisations.

The consultancy is fully remote and is expected to begin in September 2026, continuing through December 31, 2026, with the possibility of an extension. The role requires up to approximately 10 hours per week, depending on available assignments and organisational priorities. Applications must be submitted by August 21, 2026.

About EngenderHealth

EngenderHealth is an organisation committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights and promoting gender equality. Its work focuses on helping people achieve their full potential through high-quality, gender-equitable programmes.

The Digital Content and Communications Consultant will provide additional production capacity for the organisation’s external communications. The successful candidate will support content development, editing, design, scheduling, publication and communications performance tracking.

Key Responsibilities

The consultant will contribute to a wide range of digital communications activities. A major responsibility will be creating and publishing social media content for different audiences and platforms.

Key duties include:

  • Creating platform-specific copy for LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Adapting communications for different audiences and formats.
  • Designing simple branded graphics using Canva.
  • Preparing publication-ready posts through Loomly.
  • Checking links, tags, image credits and accessibility text.
  • Maintaining social media calendars and content trackers.
  • Preparing regular social media performance reports.
  • Providing recommendations to improve future digital engagement.

The role is therefore well suited to professionals who combine strong writing skills with practical experience in social media management, graphic design and digital communications.

Impact Stories and Editorial Content

The consultant will also help develop and edit impact stories, blogs and other communications materials.

This may involve transforming interviews, notes, reports and transcripts into clear and engaging first drafts. The consultant will edit content according to established style and language guidelines and ensure that final materials have strong structure, flow and readability.

Applicants should also be able to identify missing information, unclear claims, consent concerns and photo-related details before publication.

The role includes preparing complete publication packages containing headlines, summaries, social media copy, newsletter blurbs, SEO titles and meta descriptions.

Website Publishing and WordPress

Website content management is another important part of the consultancy.

The successful candidate will prepare publication-ready WordPress drafts and format webpages using accurate headings, images, captions, links, buttons, categories, tags and metadata.

They may also update existing webpages, replace links and files, and conduct quality-assurance checks for formatting, broken links, accessibility and mobile display.

Experience with WordPress or another content management system will therefore be valuable for candidates applying for this opportunity.

Required Qualifications and Experience

EngenderHealth is seeking candidates with at least three years of relevant experience in communications, digital content, journalism, marketing or a related field.

Applicants should have:

  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Experience developing social media content.
  • Experience creating simple graphics using Canva.
  • Experience with WordPress or a similar content management system.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong independent working skills.
  • Good deadline-management abilities.
  • The ability to incorporate feedback and revisions.

Candidates with experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, global health or international development may have an advantage.

Additional experience with impact stories, blogs, Loomly, SEO, social media analytics, email content or working across different countries and time zones is also preferred.

Flexible Remote Consultancy

The consultancy is expected to run from September 2026 through December 31, 2026, with the possibility of an extension based on organisational needs, performance and available funding.

The expected workload is up to approximately 10 hours per week, although there is no guaranteed minimum number of hours. Assignments and estimated hours will be agreed in advance, and the consultant will invoice based on actual hours worked.

There is also no fixed work schedule or requirement for continuous availability, providing flexibility for professionals who have other commitments.

Application Requirements

Interested candidates should prepare:

  • A brief statement outlining relevant experience and interest.
  • A résumé or CV.
  • Proposed hourly rate.
  • General availability and anticipated capacity.
  • Two to three relevant work samples or a portfolio link.

Work samples should ideally demonstrate writing or editing ability alongside social media, Canva or website publishing experience.

How to Apply

Applications should be submitted to Diana Copeland, Associate Director of Communications and Digital Engagement, by Friday, August 21, 2026.

Application Email: dcopeland@engenderhealth.org

Applicants should ensure that their application clearly demonstrates relevant digital communications experience and includes strong examples of previous work.
