Role Overview
The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Communications and Advocacy as well as the Communications Manager. The specialist will support the organization from June 2026 through March 2027 and contribute to both ongoing communications initiatives and flagship campaigns.
The role requires a commitment of at least 21 hours per week and is open to individual freelancers as well as marketing and communications firms located anywhere in Canada.
Key Responsibilities
The Digital Communications Specialist will be responsible for a variety of communications and content development activities designed to increase engagement, awareness, and participation in Women’s Shelters Canada’s programs and initiatives.
Core responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing social media strategies
- Creating engaging digital content for multiple platforms
- Producing videos, graphics, reports, and infographics
- Monitoring social media performance and analytics
- Supporting awareness and advocacy campaigns
- Managing audience engagement efforts
- Tracking media trends and sector developments
- Supporting donor communication initiatives
- Producing newsletters and annual reports
- Identifying new communication opportunities
The specialist will also contribute significantly to the organization’s flagship Refer Her campaign, which aims to increase participation in workplace-focused domestic violence training programs and related webinars.
