Fellowship Overview

The People Operations Fellowship is a six-month professional engagement that provides practical experience within Dev-Afrique’s human resources and operations functions. The Fellow will work closely with the People Operations and Management teams to support the organization’s internal systems, policies, and people-focused initiatives.

The role combines strategic exposure and operational support, allowing the Fellow to contribute meaningfully to workforce development, employee experience, and organizational culture while learning how people operations function within a consulting and development advisory environment.

This fellowship is offered in a hybrid work format, enabling flexibility while maintaining close collaboration with Dev-Afrique’s Nigeria-based and regional teams.

Key Responsibilities

The People Operations Fellow will support a wide range of HR and operational activities, including but not limited to:

  • Supporting recruitment and talent management processes across the organization
  • Coordinating talent development and learning initiatives to enhance employee competencies
  • Assisting in the implementation of the employee file audit framework
  • Supporting performance management and employee engagement processes
  • Coordinating employee welfare and wellbeing-related matters
  • Assisting with compensation, benefits, and HR administration tasks
  • Working closely with line managers to support the implementation of HR policies and procedures
  • Supporting compliance with internal policies, HR standards, and ethical guidelines
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of people operations systems and processes

The Fellow will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and gain exposure to organizational decision-making processes that support effective people management.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Dev-Afrique is seeking candidates who demonstrate strong organizational skills, professionalism, and a genuine interest in people operations and social impact. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Good understanding of HR regulations, practices, and procedures across sectors
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work accurately and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time management and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in office productivity tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software
  • High level of initiative, professionalism, ethics, and discretion
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
