About the Development Director Role
The Development Director position is a senior-level fundraising leadership opportunity designed for an experienced professional who can develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
This independent contractor position offers:
- Fully remote work from anywhere in the world
- Flexible part-time to full-time schedule
- One-year initial contract beginning July 2026
- Monthly compensation of USD $5,000–$5,500
- Direct collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors
The successful candidate will play a critical role in helping KVPI achieve its strategic growth objectives and expand support for children and families throughout the region.
Key Responsibilities
The Development Director will oversee multiple fundraising and donor engagement initiatives, including:
Grant Development and Institutional Funding
Responsibilities include:
- Identifying and researching grant opportunities
- Developing grant proposals and letters of inquiry
- Building relationships with foundation representatives and government funders
- Creating a strong funding pipeline for future growth
Major Donor and Philanthropic Engagement
The successful candidate will:
- Cultivate and steward mid-level and major donors
- Build relationships with family foundations and family offices
- Strengthen donor retention strategies
- Expand philanthropic partnerships
Fundraising Campaign Leadership
Additional responsibilities include:
- Leading annual fundraising campaigns
- Managing year-end giving initiatives

Partnership Building

Qualifications and Experience

- Experience working with major donors, family foundations, and family offices
- Strong knowledge of the U.S. philanthropic landscape
- Exceptional grant writing and communication skills
- Experience using donor management systems such as Salesforce, Bloomerang, or DonorPerfect
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Experience in international development, child welfare, education, or community development sectors will be considered an asset.
