About the Development Associate Role

The Development Associate will play an important role in helping grow the organisation’s contributed revenue and strengthening its fundraising systems.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the successful candidate will provide administrative and operational support across fundraising activities, including:

  • Prospect research.

Key Responsibilities

Manage Donor Data and Gift Administration

Approximately 40% of the role will focus on maintaining strong fundraising systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing information in Neon CRM.
  • Processing donations and pledges.
  • Preparing gift acknowledgements and tax receipts.
  • Creating reports and donor lists.
  • Improving data management processes.

The Development Associate will help ensure accurate and reliable information supports fundraising decisions.

Support Donor Relations and Grants

The successful candidate will assist with donor engagement and institutional fundraising activities.

Key duties include:

  • Supporting donor cultivation and stewardship activities.
  • Tracking donor engagement progress.
  • Preparing briefing materials for donor meetings.
  • Conducting prospect research.
  • Supporting grant applications and reporting.
  • Managing funder portals.

Support Fundraising Events and Administration

The Development Associate will provide administrative support for fundraising activities, including:

  • Supporting donor appreciation events.
  • Maintaining fundraising calendars.
  • Organising development files.
  • Communicating with vendors and partners.

Occasional evening and weekend availability may be required for events or important deadlines.

Required Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate should have:

  • At least one year of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, administration, or a related field.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working with databases and donor information.
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Neon CRM is an advantage.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to handle confidential donor information professionally.
  • Strong teamwork skills and willingness to learn.

A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
