The Inclusive Development International (IDI) has announced a senior-level opportunity for an Asia Regional Lead to oversee its programs across Southeast Asia and strengthen community-centered advocacy against harmful corporate and financial activities.
This role is designed for an experienced human rights and development professional capable of leading regional programming, supervising teams, and working closely with affected communities and partners across Asia.
Role Overview
The Asia Regional Lead will be responsible for managing and expanding IDI’s work across the Asia region. The position focuses on supporting communities impacted by large-scale investment projects, particularly in sectors such as:
- Extractives (mining, oil, and gas)
- Energy infrastructure
- Large-scale development and financial investments
The role is grounded in IDI’s “Follow the Money” approach, which traces financial flows behind harmful projects to strengthen accountability and advocacy strategies.
Key Responsibilities
The Asia Regional Lead will oversee strategic, operational, and partnership-based functions across the region.
Program Leadership and Management
- Lead planning and implementation of regional programs
- Supervise a small regional team
- Ensure alignment with organizational strategy and priorities
- Monitor program performance and impact
Advocacy and Community Support
- Work directly with affected communities and local partners
- Support human rights defenders and civil society organizations
- Develop advocacy strategies linked to corporate accountability
- Strengthen community-led campaigns against harmful investments
Research and Policy Engagement
- Conduct or oversee investigative research on corporate activities
- Analyze investment and supply chain structures
- Contribute to global policy advocacy on business and human rights
- Engage with international financial institutions and development agencies
Partnership Development
- Build and maintain relationships with regional partners
- Strengthen collaboration with grassroots organizations
- Support capacity-building initiatives for local actors
Location and Work Environment
The position is based in Southeast Asia or Eastern Australia, with preferred locations including:
- Jakarta
- Manila
- Bangkok
- Melbourne
- Sydney
The role is full-time and reports directly to the Legal and Policy Director. It involves regional coordination and collaboration with both local and international stakeholders.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for the position is:
- US$66,744 – US$101,764
The final salary depends on location and level of experience. The role is designed to attract experienced professionals with a strong background in human rights, advocacy, and program leadership.
