The Long Island Crisis Center is seeking a Development Manager to join its team in Bellmore, NY. This hybrid, full-time position begins on April 27, 2026, and offers an annual salary range of $65,000 to $75,000. The Development Manager will play a critical role in sustaining and expanding the organization’s fundraising efforts while supporting programs that advance mental health awareness and advocacy for LGBTQ+ communities.

Role Summary
The Development Manager will lead fundraising and donor engagement efforts, implementing strategies to secure support from individual donors, foundations, corporate partners, and community members. Working closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and program staff, the Development Manager will help expand the organization’s fundraising base, cultivate meaningful relationships with donors, and strengthen long-term financial sustainability.
This position requires a strategic yet hands-on professional capable of managing multiple priorities, developing compelling fundraising materials, and representing the organization externally.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Engagement & Individual Giving
- Manage and maintain the donor database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records
- Support the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors
- Draft personalized donor communications, including appeals and acknowledgments
- Track and grow donor pipelines, identifying new prospective supporters
- Coordinate donor recognition and engagement initiatives
- Partner with leadership to cultivate major donor relationships
Grants & Institutional Funding
- Research and identify foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities
- Write and submit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and progress reports
- Track deadlines and ensure compliance with grant requirements
- Maintain strong relationships with institutional funders
Communications
- Develop compelling fundraising communications that highlight community impact
- Assist in creating digital campaigns across email and social media platforms
- Collaborate on fundraising materials and website content
- Monitor engagement metrics to improve outreach strategies
Events & Community Partnerships
- Coordinate fundraising events to build community and raise funds
- Assist in securing sponsors, donors, and participants for events
- Strengthen partnerships with community organizations and local stakeholders
- Represent the organization at outreach events and public engagements
Organizational Support & Strategy
- Track fundraising progress and prepare reports for leadership and the Board
- Contribute to development budgets and annual fundraising plans
- Support strategic discussions on growth, sustainability, and donor engagement
- Engage board members and volunteers in development efforts
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, public administration, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit development or fundraising
- Experience with grant writing and foundation research
- Strong writing, storytelling, and organizational skills
- Experience managing donor databases (Network for Good a plus)
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Commitment to equity and inclusion, especially within LGBTQ+ communities
Preferred:
- Experience with fundraising events and digital fundraising campaigns
- Knowledge of donor stewardship and best practices in nonprofit fundraising
- Background in advocacy or services for LGBTQ+ communities
