Founded in 2008, Nuru International operates as a global collective of locally led NGOs working to break cycles of unjust poverty in marginalized rural communities across Africa. The organization currently works in Benin, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Niger, and Togo.
Nuru focuses on helping smallholder farmers transition from subsistence farming toward professionalized and sustainable agricultural systems. Through partnerships with local organizations, the nonprofit supports livelihoods, food security, climate-smart agriculture, and economic resilience.
The organization has also been a pioneer in remote work, operating as a fully remote team since its founding. Nuru emphasizes flexibility, employee well-being, and collaborative global engagement across its international workforce.

- Conducting data cleaning, quality checks, and basic analysis using Excel and Google Sheets.
- Supporting country teams in accessing and using data effectively through simple reporting tools and dashboards.
- Facilitating practical training sessions focused on data quality, survey management, and documentation processes.
The role also includes annual travel to Nuru partner locations in East or West Africa for in-person collaboration and engagement with local teams.
Skills and Experience Required
Nuru is seeking professionals with at least two to four years of relevant experience or formal training in areas such as monitoring and evaluation, data management, international development, agriculture, information systems, research, or related disciplines.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets is considered essential, particularly experience creating trackers, dashboards, and reporting tools.
The organization also values candidates who can work effectively in multicultural and remote environments while maintaining strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Employees also benefit from access to professional development opportunities, coaching, leadership support, and international collaboration with colleagues across multiple countries.

Growing Demand for MEL and Data Systems Professionals
As international development organizations increasingly rely on evidence-based programming and locally led approaches, professionals skilled in MEL systems, survey coordination, and practical data management continue to play critical roles in strengthening program impact and accountability.
