The Philanthropic Growth & Engagement (PG&E) Department plays a central role in advancing Mercy Corps’ mission by mobilising impactful, flexible funding from individuals, corporations, and foundations. The department prioritises the growth of unrestricted revenue while elevating Mercy Corps’ global visibility, credibility, and influence.

PG&E brings together expertise in:

  • Private fundraising and donor engagement
  • Marketing and strategic communications
  • Development operations and analytics
  • Digital platforms and supporter journeys

Through best-in-class storytelling and data-driven strategies, the team builds trust, deepens engagement, and cultivates long-term relationships with supporters. PG&E works collaboratively across Mercy Corps to ensure cohesive messaging, effective fundraising campaigns, and strong stewardship of the organisation’s reputation.

Role Overview

Mercy Corps is seeking a Project Manager, Philanthropic Growth & Engagement to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of cross-departmental fundraising and marketing initiatives. The role serves as a central coordination point for complex, multi-channel campaigns, ensuring alignment, clarity, and timely delivery across teams.

The Project Manager will oversee day-to-day project operations across the full lifecycle of fundraising initiatives, ranging from mass market appeals to major giving campaigns. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external agencies, the role will manage timelines, coordinate approvals, clarify deliverables, and maintain strong project governance.

In addition, the Project Manager will lead the development and continuous improvement of project management tools, workflows, and systems, strengthening visibility, collaboration, and accountability across the PG&E department. The position is well suited to an organised, proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management and Coordination

  • Design and implement project management processes, workflows, and RACI frameworks
  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for Wrike usage and governance
  • Translate strategic priorities across mass market, midlevel, and major giving portfolios while preserving nuance
  • Ensure alignment across teams to prevent duplication and conflicting donor communications
  • Create shared visibility into calendars, priorities, and campaign activities
  • Identify risks, bottlenecks, and capacity constraints and recommend solutions proactively
  • Facilitate clear communication on timelines, responsibilities, and decision points
  • Lead strategic and cross-cutting initiatives as required
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with a high standard of quality

Mass Market and Campaign Support

  • Support mass market, digital, and relationship-based fundraising teams in campaign execution
  • Coordinate multi-channel campaigns across online and offline platforms
  • Develop and manage detailed timelines, action plans, and project documentation
  • Coordinate deliverables to meet tight and evolving deadlines
  • Support internal approval processes for campaign assets and materials
  • Collaborate with major giving, midlevel, and corporate fundraising teams to ensure complementary and donor-focused campaigns
  • Monitor and report campaign status using Wrike to maintain transparency and alignment

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in marketing and/or fundraising
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in project management, including planning, documentation, and close-out
  • At least four years’ experience using project management platforms; Wrike experience is an advantage
  • Proven ability to build strong cross-team relationships and foster collaboration
  • Experience designing, managing, and optimising processes and workflows
  • Exceptional organisational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
