About the Opportunity
The National Collaborative for Health Equity works to advance health equity by addressing the social, economic, and structural factors that influence health outcomes. As a project under the New Venture Fund, NCHE collaborates with diverse partners to eliminate health disparities and promote equitable policies and systems.
To strengthen its financial management, NCHE is seeking an experienced consultant or fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who can serve as a strategic financial partner while coordinating closely with the New Venture Fund’s accounting systems.
Key Responsibilities
The selected consultant will provide strategic financial guidance and oversee several core financial functions, including:
- Building and maintaining multi-year organizational and grant-specific budgets.
- Developing grant spend-down strategies, including planning during no-cost extension periods.
- Managing complex personnel cost allocations across multiple grants.
- Reconciling monthly financial statements from the New Venture Fund with NCHE’s internal budgets.
- Identifying financial variances and recommending necessary budget reclassifications.
- Monitoring grant expenditures and ensuring alignment with funder budgets.
- Preparing customized financial reports for major donors and funding partners.
- Serving as the financial liaison between NCHE and the New Venture Fund.
Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate extensive nonprofit financial management experience. Preferred qualifications include:
- 10–15 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or fractional CFO services for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.
- Experience working with fiscal sponsors, particularly New Venture Fund or Arabella Advisors.
- Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Drive.
- Strong financial modeling and budgeting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex financial information to executive leadership and non-financial stakeholders.
- Compliance with U.S. federal and state nonprofit financial regulations.
- Ability to provide all required IRS tax documentation.
