About the Budget Analyst Role

The Budget Analyst will play a critical role in strengthening CIVIC’s financial planning and organisational performance.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Budget & Analysis, the successful candidate will support budget development, financial monitoring, forecasting, and analysis to ensure resources are effectively managed.

The role requires someone who can interpret financial information, identify trends, and provide insights that support strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

The Budget Analyst will be responsible for:

Budget Development and Monitoring

• Reviewing budget proposals and funding requests.
• Working with project managers to develop accurate budgets.
• Maintaining budget templates and tracking tools.
• Monitoring programme spending against approved budgets.
• Ensuring efficient use of financial resources.

Financial Analysis and Reporting

The successful candidate will:

• Prepare budget versus actual reports.
• Analyse financial performance and spending trends.
• Forecast future financial requirements.
• Conduct cost-benefit analyses.
• Prepare financial reports and special analyses.
• Provide recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Compliance and Financial Management

Responsibilities will also include:

• Ensuring budgets comply with legal and organisational requirements.
• Monitoring the impact of foreign currency fluctuations.
• Supporting accurate timekeeping and financial reporting processes.
• Identifying opportunities to strengthen financial systems.

Required Qualifications and Experience

CIVIC is seeking candidates with strong analytical and financial management skills.

Applicants should have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum three years of budget and finance experience.
• Experience working with international NGOs (INGOs).
• Strong knowledge of financial analysis and reporting.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience using accounting software.
• Knowledge of Sage Intacct is an advantage.

The ideal candidate should be:

• Highly analytical and detail-oriented.
• Comfortable managing multiple priorities.
• Skilled at presenting financial information clearly.
• Able to solve problems and make informed recommendations.

Language and Work Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must have:

• Strong written and spoken English skills.
• Ability to communicate in French is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Valid authorisation to work in Kenya without current or future visa sponsorship.
