Concern Worldwide Seeks Remote Climate Adaptation Consultant – Apply by 29 July 2026
Concern Worldwide is inviting experienced climate adaptation professionals to apply for a remote consultancy that will help strengthen climate adaptation programming and improve readiness for future climate funding across four country programmes. This consultancy offers a unique opportunity to work with international teams, enhance programme design, and support locally led climate resilience initiatives in fragile and climate-vulnerable contexts.

About the Consultancy
Climate change continues to increase poverty, humanitarian needs, and inequality worldwide. Through its Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) Policy 2026–2035, Concern Worldwide is committed to ensuring all of its programmes become climate-sensitive while strengthening adaptation and resilience efforts where climate risks significantly affect vulnerable communities.
Many of Concern’s existing programmes already contribute to climate adaptation through resilient livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, health, nutrition, WASH, and natural resource management. However, these initiatives are not always explicitly framed as climate adaptation programmes, making it more difficult to access dedicated climate finance.
The selected consultant will support four country programmes by strengthening climate adaptation thinking, programme conceptualisation, and positioning for future climate funding opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will work closely with Concern Worldwide’s Climate and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Unit, fundraising teams, and country programme staff to deliver tailored technical support. Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing existing programmes to identify climate adaptation opportunities.
- Facilitating workshops and programme reflection sessions.
- Providing technical coaching on climate adaptation programme design.
- Supporting programme conceptualisation using tools such as theories of change, objective trees, and results chains.
- Strengthening programme logic and climate adaptation framing.
- Developing practical recommendations and country-specific roadmaps.
- Identifying future climate funding opportunities alongside fundraising teams.
- Facilitating a final learning workshop with participating country teams.
- Producing a comprehensive final consultancy report with lessons learned and recommendations.
Consultancy Deliverables
Successful completion of the consultancy will include:
- Programme conceptualisation workshops for four country programmes.
- Reviews of existing climate adaptation and resilience interventions.
- Improved programme design and climate adaptation frameworks.
- Country-specific recommendations and future funding roadmaps.
- A final learning workshop for Concern Worldwide staff.
- A detailed consultancy report outlining key findings, tested methodologies, practical programme design tools, and recommendations for scaling the approach across additional country programmes.
Required Qualifications
Concern Worldwide is seeking consultants who possess:
- Experience designing and implementing climate adaptation and resilience programmes.
- Experience working in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of major climate finance mechanisms, including:
- Green Climate Fund (GCF)
- Adaptation Fund
- Loss and Damage Fund
- International Climate Initiative (IKI)
- Experience preparing concept notes and institutional donor proposals.
- Strong understanding of climate adaptation, resilience, and disaster risk reduction (DRR).
- Experience working with NGOs or humanitarian organizations.
- Excellent remote facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Fluency in French.
Consultancy Duration
The consultancy will be conducted entirely remotely over approximately 18–20 consultancy days between early August and the end of September 2026.
Each participating country programme will receive approximately four days of support through preparation, virtual workshops, coaching sessions, and follow-up technical assistance.
