A new consultancy opportunity from Magenta FZE seeks an experienced Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) and Social Behaviour Change (SBC) Expert to support immunization initiatives in the Pacific region.

This consultancy will focus on designing communication strategies and behavioural change tools that help communities understand the importance of vaccination and strengthen immunization uptake.

Consultancy Overview

The RCCE/SBC Expert will contribute to the development of a behavioural science-informed toolkit aimed at improving vaccine confidence and immunization coverage.

The consultant will work closely with the project team to develop tools and communication materials that support Ministries of Health and partners.

Project Focus: Strengthening Immunization Uptake

The consultancy supports immunization programmes in three Pacific island countries:

  • Vanuatu
  • Samoa
  • Tonga

These initiatives aim to address vaccine hesitancy and improve community engagement around immunization.

The project will use behavioural science methods to better understand how individuals make health decisions and how communication strategies can encourage positive behaviours.

Role and Key Responsibilities

The RCCE Expert will work under the supervision of the project manager to support the design and development of behavioural change tools.

Key responsibilities include:

Research and analysis

  • Conduct desk reviews of existing immunization communication materials
  • Analyse behavioural drivers related to vaccine hesitancy
  • Review existing social and behaviour change research

Toolkit development

  • Contribute to the development of an SBC toolkit framework
  • Integrate behavioural science principles such as:
    • nudging
    • message framing
    • default options
    • incentive structures

Communication strategy development

  • Develop country-adapted communication strategies
  • Provide guidance on messaging for public health campaigns
  • Support the creation of community engagement tools

Content and communication materials

  • Help produce communication resources such as:
    • social media content
    • radio scripts
    • posters
    • job aids
    • frequently asked questions

Stakeholder engagement

  • Participate in consultations with health authorities and partners
  • Support validation workshops and feedback sessions
  • Contribute to the finalization of the SBC toolkit and guidance notes

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates applying for this consultancy should have strong expertise in health communication and behavioural change strategies.

Essential requirements include:

  • At least five years of experience in RCCE or health communication
  • Experience working on immunization or vaccine confidence initiatives
  • Proven experience developing communication strategies, toolkits, or behaviour change interventions

  • Experience working with UN agencies, NGOs, or Ministries of Health
