This fully remote position can be performed from anywhere in the world, provided applicants are based between Eastern Time (ET) and Central European Time (CET) working hours. The role is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for 12 months, with the possibility of extension or conversion into a permanent position depending on organizational needs and funding availability.

About the Role

Communications plays a central role in advancing TFS’s mission. The Communications Coordinator will support the organization’s efforts to communicate complex AI governance issues in accessible and engaging ways across multiple platforms.

Reporting initially to the Operations Manager while working closely with senior leadership and policy teams, the successful candidate will help strengthen the organization’s growing communications function and ensure consistency across digital and external communications.

The role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution and wants to contribute to meaningful work at the intersection of technology and public policy.

Key Responsibilities

The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of communications activities, including:

  • Drafting, editing, formatting, and publishing blog posts, reports, and publications.
  • Managing communications workflows and coordinating publication timelines.
  • Creating and publishing content across social media platforms.
  • Supporting newsletters, digital campaigns, and website content management.
  • Assisting with communications for major events, conferences, and public engagements.
  • Producing fundraising materials, impact reports, donor communications, and organizational updates.
  • Monitoring website traffic, newsletter performance, and social media analytics.
  • Exploring responsible applications of AI-powered communication tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

The role also includes providing communications support for The Athens Roundtable, one of the organization’s flagship international events focused on AI governance and policy discussions.

Who Should Apply?

The Future Society is looking for candidates with at least two years of experience in communications, editorial work, digital publishing, or related fields.

Successful applicants should demonstrate:

  • Excellent written English and editing skills.
  • Experience managing social media platforms in a professional setting.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Experience with content management systems, email marketing platforms, and digital communications tools.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects independently in a remote environment.

While prior experience in AI governance is not required, applicants should have a genuine interest in artificial intelligence, technology policy, AI safety, or governance issues and be comfortable understanding policy-focused content.

Compensation and Benefits

The Future Society offers a transparent compensation framework based on role level and geographic location. Compensation for international candidates ranges from USD 58,400 to USD 75,300 annually, while U.S.-based employees may earn between USD 74,400 and USD 92,100 depending on location.
