Professionals with extensive experience in marketing, communications, and business growth now have an exciting opportunity to join a globally respected climate and sustainable development consultancy. E Co. is currently recruiting a part-time Marketing & Communications Lead to provide maternity cover for a period of six to nine months, offering a competitive salary ranging from £60,000 to £85,000 per year on a prorated basis.
The fully remote position is open to candidates located within approximately four hours of GMT, making it accessible to talented professionals across multiple regions. With flexible working arrangements of two to three days per week, the role presents an attractive opportunity for experienced marketing leaders seeking meaningful work within the climate and development sector.
Driving Impact Through Strategic Communications
For more than 26 years, E Co. has helped public and private sector clients advance low-carbon, climate-resilient development. The organization works at the intersection of sustainability, climate finance, and international development, supporting initiatives that generate long-term environmental and social impact.
As climate challenges continue to shape global development priorities, organizations like E Co. rely on strong communications and marketing strategies to connect with partners, clients, and stakeholders. The Marketing & Communications Lead will play a central role in ensuring that E Co.’s expertise, services, and impact are effectively communicated to global audiences.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with the Senior Management Team, the successful candidate will assume full ownership of the organization’s marketing and communications strategy during the maternity cover period.
A Leadership Role with Strategic Influence
Unlike traditional marketing positions focused solely on campaign execution, this opportunity combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery. The selected candidate will guide the overall direction of marketing initiatives while also contributing directly to the implementation of key projects.
The role includes managing and mentoring a dedicated in-house team of two full-time professionals. This requires not only technical marketing expertise but also strong leadership skills and the ability to foster collaboration within a multicultural and globally distributed workforce.
Successful applicants will be expected to participate in senior management discussions, provide strategic recommendations, and align marketing activities with broader business objectives.
Key Areas of Responsibility
One of the primary objectives of the role is strengthening E Co.’s commercial positioning. The Marketing & Communications Lead will evaluate existing products and services, identify opportunities to improve market positioning, and develop strategies that support revenue growth.
The position also places significant emphasis on customer experience. Building on existing client journey mapping efforts, the successful candidate will help refine how prospective and existing clients engage with the organization, ensuring communications remain targeted, relevant, and impactful.
Digital marketing and discoverability are another important focus area. The role involves enhancing website performance, improving search engine optimization (SEO), and ensuring digital assets contribute effectively to lead generation and business development.
Additionally, the successful candidate will lead thought leadership initiatives designed to strengthen E Co.’s reputation as a trusted authority within climate finance and sustainable development. This includes overseeing strategic campaigns, supporting content development, and amplifying the organization’s visibility across multiple channels.
Skills and Experience Required
E Co. is seeking candidates with at least eight years of proven B2B marketing experience and a minimum of five years in leadership positions or fractional Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) roles.
Applicants should demonstrate a strong track record of developing and executing successful cross-channel marketing strategies within international and multicultural environments. Experience translating complex business models into compelling commercial narratives will be particularly valuable.
The organization is looking for professionals who possess expertise across multiple marketing disciplines, including product marketing, growth marketing, brand positioning, messaging, SEO, and lead generation.
Excellent communication skills are essential. Candidates should be comfortable presenting ideas, collaborating with senior stakeholders, and producing high-quality thought leadership content that resonates with diverse audiences.
Climate Sector Knowledge a Major Advantage
A distinguishing feature of this opportunity is the preference for candidates who understand the climate finance and sustainable development landscape. Familiarity with the challenges, trends, and opportunities within these sectors will enable the successful applicant to develop more effective marketing strategies and communicate E Co.’s value proposition with credibility.
Experience using HubSpot is considered advantageous, while proficiency in additional languages such as French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, or Arabic may further strengthen an application.
Competitive Compensation and Flexibility
The position offers a prorated salary equivalent to £60,000–£85,000 annually, depending on experience, competencies, and internal equity considerations. Combined with its fully remote structure and flexible schedule, the role provides an attractive package for senior marketing professionals seeking meaningful work-life balance.
A Unique Opportunity for Purpose-Driven Marketing Leaders
As organizations worldwide accelerate efforts to address climate change and sustainable development challenges, effective communication has become more important than ever. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine commercial marketing expertise with meaningful impact.
For experienced marketing leaders passionate about sustainability, innovation, and global development, E Co.’s Marketing & Communications Lead position represents an exciting chance to shape strategic communications while contributing to climate-resilient solutions around the world.
