About Finance Engage Sustain
Finance Engage Sustain is a youth-led and youth-serving sustainable development organization and Canadian registered charity. Its work focuses on empowering young Canadians to contribute to a more inclusive, fair, prosperous, and sustainable future.
The organization aims to support Canada’s transition toward a climate-resilient future by empowering young leaders and providing them with resources, opportunities, and practical support.
FES operates two major programs. The Youth Harbour provides financial and technical support to youth-led organizations and youth organizers. The program also offers fiscal sponsorship, administrative assistance, branding support, co-working opportunities, and coaching.
Its second program, Now for Net-Zero, provides young people and educators with tools, connections, and resources to implement activities related to achieving net-zero goals in their communities.
About the Communications Coordinator Role
The Communications Coordinator will play an important role in promoting FES and its programs. Working closely with the Executive Director and Program Managers, the successful candidate will contribute to content creation, social media management, communications strategy, branding, and audience engagement.
This is a varied position that combines creative communications with strategic and analytical responsibilities. The coordinator will help ensure that FES communicates its work consistently across different platforms while increasing its online visibility and engagement.
The role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys creating digital content and has an interest in using communications to support social and environmental change.
Key Responsibilities
A major part of the position involves content development and coordination. The coordinator will maintain the organization’s content calendar and ensure that social media posts, newsletters, blogs, and articles are prepared and published according to schedule.
Social media responsibilities will include developing captions and creating visual content using Canva. The coordinator may produce posts, stories, and reels for platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
The successful candidate will also contribute to newsletters, blogs, and articles by writing, editing, and ensuring that communications are clear, accurate, and consistent.
Another important area is the development of reports and visual resources. The coordinator will assist with reports, presentations, proposals, infographics, and other materials while ensuring they follow established branding and formatting standards.
Branding and Digital Visibility
Maintaining a consistent visual identity will also be an important responsibility. The Communications Coordinator will help ensure that internal and external communications reflect FES’s brand guidelines, tone, messaging, and visual standards.
The role will involve organizing brand assets such as logos, templates, and style guides. The coordinator may also contribute ideas for new graphics, templates, and other visual materials.
Beyond content creation, the successful candidate will help increase FES’s digital visibility. This includes consistently publishing content, engaging with audiences, growing the follower base, supporting donor campaigns, and identifying opportunities to strengthen the organization’s online presence.
Qualifications and Eligibility
Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old at the start of the placement and must be able to communicate in English and French.
Candidates should have experience or an interest in digital communications, content creation, and social media management. At least six months of relevant experience is required, although this can come from employment, internships, volunteer work, co-op placements, or extracurricular activities.
Experience with Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, online marketing platforms, and Google Suite is valuable. Knowledge of graphic design and Canva is also considered an asset.
FES is looking for a creative and detail-oriented individual who can work independently while collaborating effectively with a virtual team. Candidates should be proactive, organized, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
An interest in sustainability, education, youth engagement, and climate action can further strengthen an application.
