The Club of Rome has officially opened applications for its 2026 Communications Fellowship
A seven-month professional mentoring initiative designed to amplify diverse voices in the global sustainability dialogue.
This remote program is specifically tailored for early-career communications professionals residing in the “Most of the World” regions, including Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
Core Objectives and Experience
The fellowship provides a platform for individuals to bridge the gap between complex systems thinking and non-specialist audiences. Successful candidates will work alongside the Club of Rome’s communications team, gaining hands-on experience in:
- Web Publishing: Managing and updating digital content on the official website.
- Media Outreach: Preparing materials to engage global press and media outlets.
- Multimedia Production: Creating engaging video, photographic, and audio content.
- Social Media Management: Developing strategies and content for various social platforms.
- Event Coverage: Providing live or post-event communication support for organizational initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
The organization is seeking two fellows who align with the vision of a world that prioritizes wellbeing on a healthy planet. Ideal candidates should possess:
- Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in science or journalism, or current enrollment in a science journalism program.
- Communication Skills: Fluency in written and oral English, with a demonstrated ability to translate scientific research into accessible narratives.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with, or a strong interest in, digital storytelling tools such as video editing, photography, and social media.
- Sustainability Focus: A track record of writing about sustainability or systems thinking for outlets like blogs, newspapers, or university websites.
- Geographic Eligibility: Applicants must be residents of countries within the specified regions (Africa, LAC, Middle East, or Asia-Pacific).
Fellowship Terms and Logistics
The program is designed to be a full-time, remote commitment that allows the fellow to work from their home environment while integrating with a global team.
- Duration: 1 July 2026 to 31 January 2027.
- Schedule: 36 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
- Compensation: A modest stipend adjusted for the fellow’s location, covering living costs and work-related travel.
- Benefits: 10 days of paid leave and one funded trip to meet the Club of Rome team in person.
