About the Climate Scientist Role

The Climate Scientist (Supply) position places successful candidates at the heart of the carbon removal ecosystem. Working closely with Supercritical’s Climate Science team, you’ll evaluate innovative carbon removal projects and ensure they meet rigorous scientific and commercial standards.

Your work will directly influence which projects are featured on the platform, helping businesses invest confidently in credible carbon removal initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Evaluating Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) projects using scientific and commercial assessment frameworks.
• Developing and improving carbon removal quality standards.
• Building strong relationships with project developers and suppliers.
• Monitoring advances in climate science and emerging carbon removal technologies.
• Supporting sales and marketing teams with scientific expertise and climate education.
• Contributing to industry thought leadership on carbon removal best practices.

What Makes an Ideal Candidate?

Preferred qualifications include:

• MSc or higher in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or another relevant natural science discipline.
• Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong expertise in biomass-based carbon removal pathways, including biochar and bioenergy.
• Experience within climate, sustainability, consulting, government, NGOs, academia, or commercial organizations.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• High proficiency with Excel and data analysis.
• Strong curiosity, attention to detail, and scientific rigor.

Additional experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), carbon accounting, financial modelling, techno-economic analysis (TEA), Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV), or environmental impact assessments is considered highly desirable.
