The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Tanzania Chapter is seeking a qualified consultant to develop a comprehensive Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and related implementation tools. This consultancy opportunity is ideal for professionals with expertise in child protection, safeguarding systems, human rights, gender equality, and nonprofit policy development.
The selected consultant will support FAWE Tanzania in strengthening its safeguarding framework and ensuring that its programmes provide safe environments for children and vulnerable populations.

The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Tanzania Chapter is part of a wider African network working to advance gender equity and equality in education.

Consultancy Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to develop a comprehensive Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy that will guide FAWE Tanzania’s programmes and operations.
The policy will provide clear guidance on how the organization should:
- Prevent safeguarding risks.
- Identify protection concerns.
- Respond to incidents.
- Report safeguarding violations.
- Protect children and vulnerable adults.
The consultant will help establish practical systems that promote accountability, safety, and ethical programme delivery.
Consultancy Duration
The assignment is expected to be completed within:
30 calendar days from the date of contract signing
The consultant will be responsible for delivering a complete safeguarding policy package within the agreed timeframe.

The final Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy should include:
Policy Framework
- Purpose and scope of the policy.
- Guiding principles.
- Definitions of safeguarding-related terms.
- Rights of children and vulnerable persons.
Safeguarding Standards and Procedures
- Code of conduct.
- Expected behaviours and prohibited conduct.
- Recruitment and screening procedures.
- Safe programming standards.
- Digital safeguarding guidelines.
Protection and Response Mechanisms
- Confidentiality and data protection procedures.
- Reporting mechanisms.
- Incident management processes.

- Survivor-centred response approaches.
Governance and Accountability
The policy should also outline:
- Roles and responsibilities.
- Accountability mechanisms.

Consultant Qualifications and Experience
FAWE Tanzania is seeking consultants with strong professional experience in safeguarding and child protection.
Applicants should have:
- A Master’s degree in one of the following fields:
- Law
- Human Rights
- Social Work
- Child Protection
- Gender Studies
- Development Studies
- Public Policy
- Related disciplines
Candidates should also demonstrate:
- Proven experience developing safeguarding policies for NGOs, international organizations, or donor-funded programmes.
- Knowledge of Tanzanian child protection legislation and labour laws.
- Familiarity with international safeguarding frameworks and standards.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
- Excellent facilitation and communication abilities.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
Knowledge of Kiswahili will be considered an advantage.
