Chief of Staff

Salary Range: USD $120,000–$150,000 per year
Role Purpose
The Chief of Staff serves as a senior integrator across Splash’s leadership team at a moment of organizational growth and geographic expansion. The role is designed to bridge strategy and execution, strengthen leadership alignment, and ensure disciplined follow-through across functions.
The position functions as a force multiplier for the CEO and leadership team by improving organizational rhythm, clarifying decision-making structures, and ensuring cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership Team Cohesion and Effectiveness
The Chief of Staff is responsible for strengthening leadership team performance by:
- Designing and managing the cadence of leadership meetings and quarterly retreats
- Establishing and maintaining decision-making frameworks, ownership structures, and accountability tracking
- Ensuring clarity of roles, timelines, and commitments across leadership priorities
- Monitoring leadership team dynamics and supporting adherence to agreed norms and behaviors
- Reinforcing a culture that balances agility, learning, discipline, and high standards
Cross-Functional Coordination and Organizational Rhythm
The role ensures alignment and coordination across the organization by:
- Maintaining visibility across teams, priorities, and projects
- Identifying and resolving cross-functional challenges related to ownership, timing, sequencing, and scope
- Developing systems for communication, collaboration, and follow-up
- Managing planning, prioritization, and organizational review cycles
Internal Communication and Culture Stewardship
The Chief of Staff oversees internal communication and cultural alignment by:
- Coordinating leadership communication across the organization and external partners
- Managing staff-wide communication forums and leadership updates
- Ensuring consistent communication of decisions and organizational direction
- Translating organizational values into operational practices, rituals, and systems
- Supporting change management processes and their cultural and operational impacts
CEO and Leadership Team Partnership
The Chief of Staff supports executive leadership by:
- Acting as a trusted strategic advisor to the CEO and leadership team
- Supporting problem-solving and decision-making processes
- Leading preparation for Board of Directors meetings and related governance activities
- Managing high-priority special projects and cross-functional initiatives
- Overseeing planning and execution of leadership retreats and staff convenings
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Approximately 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in roles such as Chief of Staff, COO, or senior operations leadership
- Experience in mission-driven organizations undergoing growth and organizational complexity
- Background may include consulting, startups, or other high-performance environments
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into execution and improve organizational effectiveness
- Experience working directly with CEOs or founders and senior leadership teams
- Experience operating in distributed or global teams
- Experience in global development, global health, or WASH sectors is considered an advantage
