BURN is seeking an experienced Head of Capital Raising – Europe to lead major fundraising activities supporting carbon project development and company growth. This is a full-time remote senior management opportunity for an experienced finance professional with a strong background in capital raising, institutional investment, climate finance, or project finance.

The successful candidate will be based in Europe and will work closely with senior leadership, including the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Director of Corporate Finance & Investor Relations. Regular travel will be required for investor meetings, roadshows, conferences, and industry events.

Head of Capital Raising – Europe Job Overview

The Head of Capital Raising will have responsibility for securing funding through two major areas: corporate-level equity investment and project finance for individual carbon projects.

The successful professional will manage the fundraising process from investor identification and relationship building through due diligence, negotiations, and transaction completion. This makes the position particularly suitable for professionals with a proven record of closing investment transactions.

The role also provides an opportunity to contribute to climate finance and clean energy access projects, particularly those connected to carbon markets and clean cookstove projects.

Equity Capital Raising Responsibilities

A major part of the role involves leading corporate equity fundraising rounds. The Head of Capital Raising will identify and engage institutional investors, impact funds, pension funds, family offices, and other potential sources of capital across Europe, the United States, and the Middle East.

Responsibilities include developing investment narratives, financial models, investor presentations, and other fundraising materials in collaboration with the Corporate Finance team.

The successful candidate will oversee investor engagement, due diligence coordination, term sheet negotiations, and transaction closing. They will also maintain a strong pipeline of potential investors and provide regular updates on fundraising progress to senior leadership.

Carbon Project Finance

The role also focuses on raising project-level financing for clean cookstove carbon projects. Funding structures may include debt, mezzanine finance, blended finance, carbon credit pre-purchases, and forward-sale arrangements.

The successful candidate will identify financiers with an interest in carbon and climate projects, including development finance institutions, green banks, specialist climate funds, and carbon-focused investment vehicles.

They will also help structure financing packages that align with project development timelines, carbon verification processes, and credit issuance milestones.

Working with Corporate Finance and Legal teams will be important when progressing financing instruments such as credit agreements, offtake agreements, and project special purpose vehicle structures.

Investor Network and Business Development

Strong investor relationships are central to this opportunity. The successful candidate is expected to bring an established network of institutional investors across Europe, the US, and the Middle East.

The role involves representing the company at climate finance conferences, carbon market events, development finance institution events, investor roadshows, and other relevant industry gatherings.

The Head of Capital Raising will also be expected to develop relationships with emerging investor groups entering carbon markets and clean energy access, including sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and ESG-focused corporations.

Skills and Experience Required

Applicants should have at least 10 years of direct capital raising experience and a verifiable record of successfully closing equity and/or debt transactions with institutional investors.

Experience raising capital from DFIs, impact investors, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, and climate-focused funds across international markets is highly relevant.

Experience in carbon project finance, climate finance, cleantech, energy access, or African markets will be a strong advantage.

Candidates should also have a strong understanding of equity deal structuring, project finance, blended finance, and carbon-backed financing structures. The ability to prepare and present investment-grade financial models, information memoranda, investor decks, and project finance packages is essential.

Excellent negotiation, communication, commercial, and relationship-management skills are required. The successful candidate should be entrepreneurial, self-directed, commercially focused, and comfortable working with sophisticated institutional investors.

A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field is required. An MBA, CFA, or equivalent advanced qualification is preferred.

Remote Work and Location

This is a remote position for a professional based in Europe. However, the role includes regular travel for investor meetings, roadshows, conferences, and industry events.

The position offers an opportunity for a senior finance professional to combine capital markets expertise with work in climate finance, carbon markets, clean energy access, and sustainable development.

Qualified Female Candidates Encouraged to Apply

Qualified female professionals are specifically encouraged to apply. The opportunity may be particularly attractive to experienced women in investment banking, private equity, development finance, corporate finance, climate finance, and project finance who have an established institutional investor network.

Applicants should be prepared to provide detailed information about their capital raising experience, including the number and size of transactions personally closed, financing instruments used, investor types engaged, geographic experience, and exposure to climate, carbon, cleantech, energy-access, or Africa-focused investments.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit their application through the official recruitment portal.
