Kids Can Fly (KCF), a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children and families in Brantford and Brant County, Ontario, is seeking an experienced Executive Director to provide strategic leadership and guide the organization into its next phase of growth.

Founded in 2001, Kids Can Fly supports children from birth to six years old through evidence-informed programs designed to strengthen early childhood development and family connections.
The organization works with families, caregivers, community partners, and volunteers to provide programs that help children thrive. Kids Can Fly is also the local affiliate for internationally recognized initiatives, including Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and Roots of Empathy.

The Executive Director will report to the Board of Directors and serve as the organization’s public representative while managing daily operations and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising and Financial Sustainability
The Executive Director will play a leading role in securing the organization’s financial future by:
- Developing and managing fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
- Building relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, and community partners.
- Preparing grant applications and identifying new funding opportunities.
- Supporting financial planning and budget management.
- Monitoring organizational finances with the Board Treasurer and accountant.
Strategic Leadership
The successful candidate will:
- Provide leadership aligned with Kids Can Fly’s mission and strategic goals.
- Support organizational growth and innovation.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors on planning and governance.
- Identify emerging community needs and develop effective responses.
Community Engagement and Communications
Responsibilities include:
- Representing Kids Can Fly at community events and meetings.
- Building partnerships with schools, families, businesses, funders, and community organizations.
- Promoting the organization through presentations, media engagement, and social media.
- Increasing awareness of programs and community impact.
Operations and Team Management
The Executive Director will:
- Lead and support staff and volunteers.
- Maintain a positive workplace culture.
- Oversee policies, procedures, risk management, and operational systems.
- Ensure effective delivery and evaluation of programs.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Ideal candidates should have:
- At least five years of progressive leadership experience, preferably within the non-profit sector.
- Experience in fundraising, donor engagement, and grant writing.
- Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
- Experience supervising teams and volunteers.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Experience using digital tools, donor management systems, and financial software.
A background in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Services, Public Administration, Communications, Non-Profit Leadership, or related fields is preferred.
Knowledge of early childhood development and family support services will be considered an advantage.
