The Board Treasurer position at Project Play is a voluntary leadership opportunity for individuals with bookkeeping and financial oversight experience. This remote role allows professionals to support Project Play’s mission of providing safe and structured play spaces for displaced children in northern France.

Board Treasurers help ensure the organisation remains financially healthy, compliant, and sustainable, while directly contributing to a grassroots initiative that positively impacts children’s wellbeing and development.

Key Responsibilities of the Board Treasurer

The Board Treasurer plays a vital role in managing and overseeing Project Play’s financial operations. Responsibilities include:

  • Accounting and Financial Oversight
    • Ensure proper accounting records are maintained
    • Lead production of quarterly financial reports and annual accounts
    • Oversee day-to-day finances in collaboration with the Operations Lead
  • Bookkeeping Support
    • Review monthly bookkeeping and sign off on reports
    • Process payments where appropriate
    • Monitor cash flow and communicate financial standing to fundraising teams
  • Board Meetings
    • Attend monthly finance meetings (1 hour)
    • Participate in quarterly board meetings (1–2 hours)
  • Safeguarding and Compliance
    • Uphold the highest standards of child protection and safeguarding
    • Ensure organisational sustainability and adherence to legal and financial compliance

Required Skills and Qualifications

This role is suited for individuals with financial expertise who are also passionate about child welfare and humanitarian work.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong command of English; French strongly desired
  • Experience in bookkeeping and financial reporting
