What You Will Do
As Community Engagement Manager for the Asia Pacific Region, you will be responsible for ensuring that our 18 Chapters across the region receive the highest level of service and care from the Internet Society and that they feel connected with the Internet Society’s global mission. You will join a global Community Engagement Team that serves chapters, individual members, and Organizational members across the world. In this role, you will help nurture and grow a community of Chapters in APAC to advance the Internet Society’s vision for the Internet in the region.

Work from home – India, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Engaging the Internet Society chapters community in APAC by:
- creating close relationships and trust with our chapter leaders and members in the region
- ensuring an effective flow of information from both the chapters to the staff organization and vice versa
- acting as internal advisor as to how to engage with our volunteer community in the region
- gathering and sharing of regional chapter success with our global community
- serving as the primary point of contact for Chapter leaders in APAC
- keeping up chapter related data and records to build and maintain the basis for meaningful engagement
- supporting chapters in aspects linked to association management and volunteer engagement
- creating opportunities for collaboration and alignment between the local communities and staff
- Other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience
- A proven track record of excellence in community building
- Demonstrated knowledge of the geographic and cultural diversity of the APAC region
- Familiarity with the Internet ecosystem, basic Internet technology and Internet topics relevant to the region
- A proven track record of excellence in community building or organizing
- Ability to practice sound judgement and diplomacy in dealings with volunteer leaders
- Skills to build bridges between chapters, individual members, organizational members, regional partners,
- Experience with chapter governance aspects and volunteer management practices
- Experience with Association Management Systems and Project Management tool
- Fluency (written and spoken) in English is required
- Commitment to the Internet Society’s mission, values and objectives.
- Experience working with a Globally distributed workforce and ability to work across time zone.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability interact positively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
- Ability to travel as needed when travel resumes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create a strategy and develop and manage corresponding production schedule/pipeline to ensure quarterly goals are met; include org-wide tracking and manage the digital asset manager (DAM—repository where all finished stories live).
- Investigate story leads by meeting with and interviewing internal and external stakeholders.
- Accountable to and hands-on production of all impact stories from initial concept to final launch across multimedia. Note, you may partner with our Web Lead, Creative Director or Graphics Design firm.
- Produce impact stories each month to illustrate human impact.
- Assess current stories to determine if there is an opportunity for appropriate “spin-off,” updates, and/or other formats.
- Work with Translations Director to identify and post relevant stories in French and Spanish.
- Create alternate versions of stories, when applicable, for relevant audiences (e.g., sponsorships, fundraising, community, etc.).
- Work with philanthropy and empowerment teams to identify story opportunities through measuring, evaluation, and grant activities, and develop methodologies to standardize key impact stories.
- Support additional copyediting and copywriting, as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, PR, Journalism, or a related field.
- 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Superior copyediting and copywriting with relevant examples.
- Proficiency in tone, tenor and, active voice.
- Awareness/experience writing for SEO.
- Demonstrated experience promoting organizational impact across multiple channels and media through a human-centered lens with relevant examples.
- Ability to transform technical content into human-centered narratives.
- Impeccable attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Self-starter, proactive and able to seek out potential story opportunities.
- Highly collaborative but willing to take the lead when necessary.
- Understands the difference between good and great, whilst seeing the larger vision.
- Ability to manage third parties and vendor relationships.
- Experience working with a globally distributed workforce across time zone.

Compensation and benefits for this position will be paid in local currency and based on the country and geographic location’s local salary and benefits market data for the position. Exact pay will be based on factors including but not limited to relevant qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, business, and organizational needs.
