The successful candidate will play a vital role in securing institutional funding, cultivating corporate partnerships, and strengthening relationships with major individual donors.

The Opportunity
The Fundraising Officer will support Build Change’s multi-year growth strategy by expanding its philanthropic revenue streams. Reporting to the Vice President of Global Engagement, the role collaborates across marketing, communications, advocacy, engineering, finance, and program teams to strengthen donor engagement and secure sustainable funding.
Key Responsibilities
Institutional Partnerships
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of foundations aligned with DRR, climate adaptation, gender equity, economic development, and engineering.
- Produce compelling grant proposals, concept notes, and LOIs that translate complex programs into engaging donor narratives.
- Collaborate closely with Program, Engineering, and Finance teams to gather data and finalize budgets.
- Lead narrative reporting, ensuring timely and high-quality submissions.
- Steward foundation partners through regular communication and relationship management.
- Track all activities using Build Change’s CRM (Monday.com).
Corporate Partnerships & Individual Giving
- Identify and engage corporate partners for philanthropy, sponsorships, cause marketing, and pro bono collaborations.
- Support senior leadership in cultivating mid-level and major donors through customized briefs, personalized communication, and stewardship follow-up.
Cross-Cutting Fundraising Support
- Contribute to fundraising materials, appeals, cases for support, and partner presentations.
- Coordinate with advocacy teams to identify key in-person donor engagement opportunities such as:
- Skoll World Forum
- New York Climate Week
- UNFCCC COP events
Ideal Candidate Profile
You Have:
- 4+ years of progressive fundraising experience in international nonprofits
- Proven history securing 5- and 6-figure grants
- Strong research skills for identifying and qualifying institutional and corporate funders
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Passion for Build Change’s mission, including homeowner-driven implementation and gender equity
Your Experience Includes:
- Building long-term donor relationships
- Managing complex grants calendars and deadlines
- Working with global, multicultural teams
- CRM systems and Microsoft Office proficiency
You Would Describe Yourself As:
- A collaborative, culturally intelligent team player
- Self-directed but well-coordinated
- Optimistic, patient, flexible, and grounded
- Fluent in English
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience in Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, Middle East, or Asia
- Additional languages
- Background in climate, engineering, urban development, or sustainable finance
