Role Overview
The Energy Campaigner in Poland will play a pivotal role in supporting BFF’s multi-country European campaign, focusing on Poland’s unique energy transition context. The role involves developing campaign strategies, coordinating with local and European partners, promoting coal phase-out initiatives, and advancing just transition policies for affected regions. This position requires fluency in Polish and English, strong campaign and policy expertise, and the ability to operate effectively in a decentralized, multicultural team.
Key Responsibilities
- Campaign Strategy Development (60%):
- Design and implement winning strategies for Poland that align with BFF’s broader European campaign.
- Coordinate with Polish BFF member organizations and allies to integrate their priorities into national and European strategies.
- Lead communications efforts, including press releases, media pitching, and promotion of key campaign achievements.
- Facilitate collaboration between Polish and European experts on energy market design, grids, clean flexibility, and fossil fuel policy.
- Support initiatives for just transition in coal regions and manage policies related to fossil gas expansion.
- Coal Campaign Support (40%):
- Coordinate coal campaign priorities across Europe in collaboration with member organizations.
- Work closely with BFF’s data and communications teams to maintain and promote the coal exit data tool.
- Act as the campaign’s point of contact for coal plant data, closures, and milestone achievements.
- Contribute to strategy development and annual planning for the coal exit campaign.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum five years of experience in energy, climate, and just transition campaigns.
- Fluent in Polish and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- At least three years of experience designing and running civil society campaigns.
- Deep knowledge of Poland’s energy transition policies, politics, and energy market dynamics.
- Solid understanding of the European coal sector and just transition initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills, with the ability to build consensus across multi-organizational teams.
- Proficiency with Google productivity tools (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote and multicultural work environment.
- Passion for promoting sustainable, environmentally friendly, and equitable energy solutions.
