Key Responsibilities of the Bid & Proposal Manager

The Bid & Proposal Manager will report to the Head of Unit and contribute to Baastel’s growth through strategic business development and proposal management.

The main responsibilities include:

Proposal Development and Coordination

The successful candidate will:

  • Identify and evaluate business opportunities aligned with Baastel’s expertise.
  • Review donor requests for proposals and develop response strategies.
  • Coordinate technical and financial proposal preparation.
  • Collaborate with experts to produce high-quality submissions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with strategic partners.
  • Build networks of consultants and specialists to support project opportunities.

Contract and Administrative Management

The role will also support successful project delivery through:

  • Managing contract documentation and compliance processes.
  • Monitoring budgets and financial requirements.
  • Supporting invoicing processes with finance teams.
  • Maintaining relationships with clients and consultants.
  • Ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and quality standards.
  • Resolving administrative challenges related to projects.

Information Management and Process Improvement

The Bid & Proposal Manager will also:

  • Maintain accurate project and consultant records.
  • Improve internal business development tools and processes.
  • Support knowledge sharing and coordination across teams.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Baastel is looking for candidates with a strong background in business development and proposal coordination.

Applicants should have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Two to five years of experience in business development or proposal writing.
  • Experience preparing technical and financial proposals.
  • Knowledge of institutional donors such as the European Union, World Bank, United Nations agencies, or bilateral cooperation organizations.
  • Experience in environmental, climate, or social development projects is an advantage.

Experience working with international development organizations will be highly valued.

Essential Skills and Competencies

Successful candidates should demonstrate:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Spanish proficiency as an added advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Strong coordination and teamwork abilities.
  • Independence, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent writing and editing capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word formatting.
  • Familiarity with digital collaboration tools such as Teams and OneDrive.

Remote Work Opportunity and Salary Details

Baastel provides flexible work arrangements depending on location and contract type.

Compensation includes:

  • Employee contract: CAD $51,000 – $58,000 gross annually.
  • Consulting contract: USD $150 – $200 per day.

Employees based in Quebec may also receive:

  • Annual performance-based bonus.
  • Health insurance coverage.
  • Retirement savings contributions.
  • Three remote working days per week.
  • Opportunities for remote work abroad according to company policy.

The position is full-time, with a 37.5-hour work week for employees or approximately 220 working days annually for consultants.
