Overview of the Communication Officer Position

The selected Communication Officer will join the MCAA Secretariat and work primarily on Horizon Europe projects. The role focuses on communication planning, dissemination strategies, stakeholder engagement, and the successful execution of communication-related project activities.

The successful candidate will also contribute to broader association communication activities, ensuring consistent messaging and high-quality outreach across digital and institutional platforms.

This is a fully remote position, making it accessible to qualified professionals from different locations globally, provided they can work during Western European working hours.

Key Responsibilities

The Communication Officer will be responsible for a broad range of communication and dissemination tasks, including:

  • Developing communication, dissemination, exploitation, and stakeholder engagement strategies for Horizon Europe projects
  • Creating and managing digital content for:
    • Social media platforms
    • Newsletters
    • Blogs
    • Websites
  • Ensuring brand consistency across all communication channels
  • Monitoring communication performance metrics and preparing engagement reports
  • Supporting international teams to maintain efficient communication workflows
  • Proofreading and editing:
    • Reports
    • Statements
    • Deliverables
    • Press releases
    • Internal documents
  • Preparing dissemination and exploitation-related reports aligned with Grant Agreement requirements
  • Managing communication-related KPIs and ensuring successful delivery of project objectives

Qualifications and Skills Required

The MCAA is seeking candidates with demonstrated expertise in communication and dissemination activities linked to Horizon Europe-funded projects.

Applicants are expected to possess:

  • A graduate qualification or proven professional experience in:
    • Communication
    • Journalism
    • Public relations
    • Related fields
  • Excellent English writing and editing skills for:
    • Public outreach communication
    • Institutional and professional audiences
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Social media management tools
    • Content management systems
    • Email marketing platforms
    • Communication analytics tools
  • Familiarity with Adobe software, including:
    • Adobe InDesign
    • Illustrator
    • Photoshop
  • Proficiency in:
    • Google Workspace
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Monday.com or similar project management tools
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

Candidates must demonstrate at least a C1 level in English and be available to travel approximately three times annually for conferences, project meetings, and association events within the European Union.

Contract Details and Benefits

The successful applicant will receive a freelance service contract running until 30 September 2026 during the trial phase, with strong potential for extension until 30 May 2029.

  • Daily gross compensation ranging between 180 and 200 euros depending on experience
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Approximately 215 working days annually
  • Roughly 18 working days per month

A geopolitical correction coefficient may apply depending on the candidate’s location.
