Asia Campaigner
Organization: Earth Island – Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative
Closing Date: 16 January 2026
Position Overview
Earth Island is seeking an Asia Campaigner to support and scale the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative across the Asian region. This role sits within a bold global campaign advocating for a new international mechanism to complement the Paris Agreement—one that directly addresses fossil fuel expansion and supports a just and equitable transition away from coal, oil, and gas.
The position is full-time, consultancy-based, running from January to June 2026, with the possibility of extension. The role is remote, based in Asia, with a preference for candidates located in Southeast Asia, and includes some regional and international travel for meetings and events.
About the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative
The world’s largest fossil fuel producers are on track to extract more than twice the amount of fossil fuels that can safely be burned if global climate targets are to be met. The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative responds to this urgent challenge by advocating for a global framework that:
- Ends the expansion of fossil fuel production
- Manages a fair and equitable phase-out of existing production
- Ensures a just transition that prioritizes people, communities, and frontline regions
The Initiative works with governments, cities, civil society, Indigenous communities, youth movements, and high-profile champions to build diplomatic and public support for this new global agreement.
