African Risk Capacity (ARC) is Seeking a Scholarship Programs Administrator – Apply Before 12 February 2026

The African Risk Capacity (ARC) is a specialised agency of the African Union (AU) established to support Member States in strengthening their capacity to plan, prepare for, and respond to extreme weather events and natural disasters. ARC delivers this mandate through innovative parametric insurance solutions and complementary disaster risk financing and management tools. As a pioneering public–private partnership, ARC plays a critical role in advancing economic development, food security, and resilience across the African continent.
ARC Ltd is currently seeking a Scholarship Programs Administrator to support the effective delivery and administration of its scholarship initiatives. This role is central to ensuring the integrity, transparency, and smooth operation of ARC’s education support programmes in actuarial science and related disciplines.
Position Overview
- Job Title: Scholarship Programs Administrator
- Location: Africa-based (remote/regionally based)
- Employment Type: Part-time contract, one year (renewable)
- Estimated Workload: Approximately two days per week, with flexibility during peak scholarship cycles
- Reporting Line: Head of Legal, in coordination with Finance, Grants, and Underwriting functions
Background and Programme Context
ARC Ltd administers scholarship programmes aimed at expanding access to high-quality education in actuarial science and related fields across Africa. These programmes contribute to building a strong pipeline of technical professionals capable of supporting Africa’s disaster risk financing and insurance ecosystems.
To support the growing scope and complexity of these initiatives, ARC Ltd requires a dedicated administrator to oversee day-to-day programme operations, maintain accurate records, and act as a key coordination point between ARC Ltd, partner institutions, and scholarship recipients.
Objectives of the Role
The Scholarship Programs Administrator is responsible for managing the operational and administrative aspects of ARC Ltd’s scholarship programmes. The role ensures that processes are efficient, compliant with donor and grant requirements, and supported by clear communication and accurate reporting.
The position focuses on:
- Programme administration and coordination
- Records management and data integrity
- Stakeholder communication and liaison
- Monitoring student progress and compliance
- Supporting internal governance and reporting
Key Responsibilities
Programme Administration
- Oversee the day-to-day administration of ARC Ltd scholarship programmes
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of scholarship recipients and programme activities
- Ensure confidentiality and integrity of student, university, and ARC Ltd data
- Ensure compliance with donor, grant management, and audit requirements, including record retention
Application Processing
- Receive and log scholarship applications
- Conduct first-level administrative reviews to confirm completeness and eligibility against defined criteria
- Prepare structured administrative summaries for submission to the Scholarship Committee
- Ensure strict neutrality by supporting the process without influencing selection or award decisions
Intermediary and Coordination Role
- Act as the primary liaison between ARC Ltd, partner academic institutions, and scholarship recipients
- Facilitate communication and respond to administrative queries from students and schools
- Support the Scholarship Committee through meeting coordination, documentation preparation, and follow-up
Information Sharing and Communication
- Provide timely and accurate information to partner institutions on scholarship policies, requirements, and student progress
- Communicate programme updates, deadlines, and compliance requirements to scholarship recipients
- Ensure consistent and professional engagement across all stakeholder interactions
Monitoring and Reporting
- Track student performance, compliance with scholarship conditions, and academic progression
- Prepare periodic reports on programme implementation, challenges, risks, and recommendations
- Support ARC Ltd management with data and insights to inform programme improvements
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by ARC Ltd management
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related field
- A Master’s degree is considered an advantage
Professional Experience
- Minimum of five years’ experience in programme administration, education management, or student services
- Experience working with scholarship programmes, donor-funded initiatives, or pan-African programmes is highly desirable
Technical and Professional Skills
- Strong organisational and record-keeping capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database management systems
- Demonstrated experience coordinating across multiple stakeholders and functions
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English and French is required
Performance Indicators
Performance in this role will be assessed against:
- Timeliness and quality of programme reporting
- Accuracy and completeness of records
- Effectiveness and reliability of administrative support provided to stakeholders
