The Alliance for Middle East Peace (ALLMEP) is currently hiring a Director of Communications to lead the organization’s external messaging and brand strategy. This full-time, remote position offers a competitive salary of $75,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on experience.
ALLMEP, founded in 2004, supports over 200 civil society organizations in Israel and Palestine, promoting cooperation, mutual understanding, and peace. The organization amplifies the voices of Israeli and Palestinian peacebuilders and strengthens advocacy, fundraising, and public awareness campaigns globally.
Key Responsibilities of the Communications Director
The Communications Director will be responsible for guiding ALLMEP’s narrative and ensuring a consistent and impactful voice across all communications channels. Core responsibilities include:
Strategic Communications Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with ALLMEP’s mission and organizational goals.
- Ensure consistency in messaging across platforms, regions, and audiences.
- Act as the primary steward of ALLMEP’s brand and external communications.
Team and Resource Management
- Manage and mentor communications staff, interns, and external consultants.
- Oversee budgets and resources dedicated to communications.
- Establish benchmarks, KPIs, and systems to measure communications effectiveness.
Media and Public Relations
- Lead ALLMEP’s media strategy, cultivating relationships with journalists and media outlets.
- Oversee press releases, op-eds, media advisories, and spokesperson preparation.
- Act as a senior spokesperson when appropriate.
Digital Strategy and Content
- Direct the planning, creation, and dissemination of content across social media, websites, newsletters, and digital campaigns.
- Collaborate with the development team on online fundraising and donor engagement campaigns.
- Oversee production of special media projects such as podcasts, short films, and digital storytelling initiatives.
Publications and Events Communications
- Supervise the production of reports, briefs, and thought leadership publications.
- Ensure communications support for major events, conferences, and convenings.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and senior leadership to align communications with advocacy, fundraising, and program goals.
- Increase visibility among policymakers, funders, and global audiences.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of communications expertise, leadership experience, and cross-cultural understanding. Required qualifications include:
- 7–10+ years of experience in communications, PR, journalism, or marketing, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven success managing media relations and securing top-tier press coverage.
- Strong team leadership skills with experience mentoring staff.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities for diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with digital tools, including CMS platforms, social media schedulers, analytics, and email marketing systems.
- Ability to develop nuanced messaging and handle crisis communications.
- Experience managing multiple projects and collaborating across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in nonprofit or advocacy-focused environments.
- Knowledge of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and international communications contexts.
- Skills in video editing, website management, and design tools such as Adobe or Canva.
- Additional language proficiencies, including Hebrew, Arabic, French, or German.
Work Environment and Benefits
This position is fully remote, with a preference for candidates based on the East Coast of the United States, Europe, or the Middle East. The Communications Director will interact with international teams, media outlets, and partner organizations across multiple time zones.
