Surge Africa is Seeking an Executive Assistant (Remote) – Apply Before 10 January 2026

Surge Africa is a pan-African organisation working at the intersection of climate action, storytelling, research, and youth engagement. Through its initiatives, Surge Africa addresses climate communication gaps, strengthens climate leadership, and supports evidence-based advocacy across the continent. As the organisation continues to expand its impact, Surge Africa is seeking an Executive Assistant to provide high-level administrative and strategic support to its Director.
This is a fully remote role based in Nigeria, offered on a two-year contract subject to renewal, with an immediate start date. The application deadline is 10 January 2026.
Role Overview
The Executive Assistant serves as a trusted partner to the Director of Surge Africa, providing comprehensive administrative, organisational, and coordination support. The role is central to ensuring the effective management of the Director’s time, communications, and priorities, while enabling smooth daily operations across the organisation.
This position requires exceptional discretion, strong judgment, and the ability to anticipate needs in a fast-paced, remote working environment. The Executive Assistant acts as a key coordination point between the Director and internal and external stakeholders, supporting strategic planning and execution at senior leadership level.
Key Responsibilities
Executive and Administrative Support
- Provide direct, high-level administrative support to the Director
- Manage the Director’s calendar, including scheduling meetings, appointments, and reminders
- Coordinate logistics for virtual and in-person meetings and engagements
- Assist with travel planning, itineraries, and related logistics
Communication and Coordination
- Draft, review, and format correspondence, reports, briefs, and presentations
- Serve as a liaison between the Director and internal teams, partners, board members, and external stakeholders
- Manage inbound and outbound communications on behalf of the Director when required
Meetings, Governance, and Follow-Up
- Prepare agendas and supporting documents for meetings
- Attend meetings as required and take accurate, well-structured minutes
- Track action items and decisions, following up to ensure timely execution
- Support the planning and coordination of:
- Board meetings
- Strategy sessions
- External engagements and high-level convenings
Information and Document Management
- Maintain organised digital filing and document management systems
- Ensure easy access to key documents while maintaining confidentiality
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Project and Strategic Support
- Support special projects led by the Director
- Assist with prioritisation, tracking deliverables, and coordinating inputs from multiple stakeholders
- Perform additional duties aligned with the role as assigned by the Director
Skills and Qualifications
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience providing executive or senior-level administrative support
- Proven experience supporting a senior leader in a dynamic or fast-paced environment
Core Competencies
- Strong organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and attention to detail
Communication and Technical Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong proficiency in digital tools, calendars, document management systems, and virtual workspaces
- Ability to work independently, anticipate needs, and exercise sound judgment
Additional Attributes
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships
- Proactive problem-solving approach
- Interest in or understanding of climate change, development, or nonprofit work is an advantage
