The Global Methane Hub (GMH) is seeking an experienced climate and policy professional for the position of Regional Lead – Africa, a fully remote leadership opportunity focused on advancing methane reduction efforts across the continent. Role Overview: Regional Lead – Africa

The Regional Lead – Africa will serve as the organization’s primary representative and strategic advisor for methane mitigation initiatives across the continent.

The successful candidate will help strengthen Africa’s methane reduction ecosystem by developing partnerships, advising leadership, supporting funding strategies, and representing GMH in high-level climate discussions.

Reporting to the Director, Global Engagement, the Regional Lead will collaborate with program teams, communications specialists, development teams, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Representation and Partnership Building

The Regional Lead will:

• Represent GMH in climate discussions, conferences, policy forums, and stakeholder meetings across Africa.
• Build relationships with government officials, NGOs, research institutions, businesses, and community organizations.
• Strengthen GMH’s visibility as a trusted methane mitigation partner.
• Engage with regional climate networks and international donors.
• Support participation in major global climate events, including conferences and policy forums.
• Promote collaboration between organizations working on methane reduction.

Strategic Research and Policy Analysis

The role will also involve:

• Providing insights into Africa’s political, environmental, and policy landscapes.
• Monitoring methane-related policies, regulations, and government commitments.
• Advising program leaders on opportunities and challenges across the region.
• Identifying strategic entry points for methane reduction initiatives.
• Tracking developments in climate, energy, agriculture, and waste sectors.

Strategy Development and Implementation

The successful candidate will contribute to:

• Developing GMH’s Africa methane mitigation strategy.
• Designing initiatives that strengthen regional climate action networks.
• Supporting seed grants for emerging organizations and innovative projects.
• Connecting successful initiatives with larger funding opportunities.
• Organizing workshops and knowledge-sharing events.
• Building communities of practice focused on methane reduction.

Communication and Collaboration

Responsibilities include:

• Providing updates and reports to leadership and donors.
• Supporting grantmaking decisions through regional expertise.
• Identifying organizations aligned with GMH’s goals.
• Helping global teams understand regional political and cultural contexts.

Candidate Profile

GMH is looking for a strategic and collaborative professional with significant experience in climate, environmental policy, energy, agriculture, or related fields.

Ideal candidates should have:

• At least 8 years of progressive professional experience.
• Experience working across Africa in climate, environmental, energy, or development sectors.
• Experience representing organizations in high-level policy discussions.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership-building abilities.
• Experience developing and implementing strategies.
• Knowledge of grant-making or seed funding approaches.
• Strong understanding of African climate priorities and regional initiatives.

The position offers an annual salary range of:

$113,000 – $142,000 USD
