About the FemPeaceEA Project

The East Africa Feminist Peace Network (FemPeaceEA) is dedicated to strengthening grassroots feminist organizations throughout East Africa. As a Project Assistant, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with the FemPeaceEA team based in Uganda and Berlin, providing essential administrative and operational support throughout the project.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Assistant will support the successful implementation of project activities by handling administrative and contractual processes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with consultancy contracts and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs).
  • Drafting agreements with clear deliverables and timelines.
  • Reviewing invoices and verifying payment documentation.
  • Supporting procurement processes, including publishing calls and maintaining documentation.
  • Monitoring contract amendments and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
  • Coordinating administrative communication with consultants and project partners.
  • Participating in weekly project meetings, administrative meetings, and consultant briefing sessions.
  • Providing organizational support to ensure project activities are delivered efficiently.

The role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess a strong understanding of African feminist movements and grassroots organizing, particularly within East Africa.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Governance, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Two to five years of experience in administrative or project support roles.
  • Experience drafting consultancy contracts and service agreements.
  • Knowledge of payment terms, budgeting, and deliverable-based contracts.
  • Experience reviewing invoices, financial records, and cash receipts.
  • Familiarity with donor compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of procurement procedures and documentation.
  • Strong written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work remotely while remaining responsive during standard working hours.

Experience working within feminist organizations, civil society, or peacebuilding initiatives will be an added advantage.
