Advancement Director Role Overview

The Advancement Director will oversee the Foundation’s fundraising and mission delivery strategies across Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and West Virginia.

Reporting to the Regional Director, this position will focus on increasing revenue, developing partnerships, managing volunteers, and building relationships with donors and community stakeholders.

The role requires an experienced nonprofit professional who understands fundraising strategy, donor cultivation, community outreach, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising and Revenue Growth

The Advancement Director will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to achieve fundraising goals.

Key duties include:

• Creating and managing annual fundraising plans and budgets.
• Increasing revenue through individual giving, corporate partnerships, and foundation support.
• Leading fundraising campaigns and signature events.
• Supporting peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives such as Moving Day and Revolution.
• Identifying new opportunities for chapter expansion and growth.
• Managing donor relationships and increasing long-term support.

The ideal candidate will have experience securing major gifts, managing fundraising events, and building sustainable revenue streams for nonprofit organizations.

Community Engagement and Partnerships

A major part of this role involves strengthening relationships with community members and organizations.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing partnerships with healthcare providers, businesses, and community organizations.
• Representing the Parkinson’s Foundation at public events.
• Building awareness of Parkinson’s resources and programs.
• Supporting outreach activities in communities throughout the region.
• Managing relationships with donors, volunteers, and strategic partners.

Volunteer and Team Leadership

The successful candidate will provide leadership and support to staff members and volunteers by:

• Recruiting and developing volunteer leaders and ambassadors.
• Supporting the Chapter Board of Directors.

Strong leadership skills and experience managing teams are essential for success in this position.

Operational Responsibilities

The Advancement Director will also support effective chapter operations by:

• Maintaining accurate donor and community records.
• Using database systems such as Raiser’s Edge NXT for relationship management.
• Ensuring compliance with organizational tracking standards.
• Supporting fundraising programs, events, and activities.
• Managing priorities in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are important for managing multiple initiatives successfully.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

• A bachelor’s degree.
• At least 6 years of fundraising experience, preferably in healthcare nonprofits.
• Demonstrated success with donor cultivation, corporate giving, and fundraising events.
• Experience developing strategic plans and managing budgets.
• Strong volunteer recruitment and management experience.
• Proven ability to secure corporate partnerships.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
