Action Canada Global SRHR Advocacy Opportunities Mapping Consultancy 2026: Apply for a Global Consultancy Opportunity

Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights is inviting qualified consultants or consultancy teams to submit proposals for a Global SRHR Advocacy Opportunities Mapping Consultancy. The assignment will support efforts to identify and map advocacy opportunities that can strengthen sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) work at the global level.

The consultancy forms part of the Strengthening Health Systems for Integrated & Transformative SRHR (SHIFTS) project, a multi-country initiative focused on improving SRHR outcomes for women, adolescents and marginalised communities.

About the Action Canada SRHR Consultancy

Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights is implementing SHIFTS in partnership with the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and local implementing organisations in Benin, Mozambique and Nigeria.

The project seeks to address persistent gender inequalities, weaknesses in health systems and structural and social barriers that prevent people from accessing quality sexual and reproductive health and rights services.

As part of this work, Action Canada is seeking a consultant or team of consultants to conduct a global advocacy opportunities mapping exercise.

The assignment is intended to help identify strategic spaces, platforms and opportunities where SRHR advocates and organisations can engage in global policy and advocacy processes.

About the SHIFTS Project

The SHIFTS project brings together international and local partners to strengthen health systems and advance transformative approaches to SRHR.

The initiative is being implemented in:

  • Benin
  • Mozambique
  • Nigeria

Action Canada leads the partnership alongside IPPF and local implementing partners, including PPFN in Nigeria, AMODEFA in Mozambique and ABFP in Benin.

The project recognises that improving SRHR requires more than increasing access to healthcare. It also requires addressing the social, gender, political and structural factors that influence people’s ability to access and exercise their sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Global SRHR Advocacy Opportunities Mapping

The selected consultant or consultancy team will be responsible for delivering a mapping of global SRHR advocacy opportunities.

The work is expected to contribute to Action Canada’s understanding of the international advocacy landscape and help identify opportunities for engagement relevant to the goals of the SHIFTS project.

A strong mapping exercise can help organisations understand where important policy discussions take place, which global processes may provide opportunities for influence, and how advocates can strategically engage with relevant spaces.

This makes the consultancy particularly relevant to professionals with experience in SRHR advocacy, global health, policy analysis, international development, reproductive rights or strategic advocacy.

Who Can Apply?

Action Canada states that it is seeking either an individual consultant or a team of consultants to undertake the assignment.

The opportunity may therefore be suitable for experienced independent consultants, researchers, advocacy specialists or consultancy teams with relevant expertise.

Professionals working in areas such as the following may find the assignment particularly relevant:

  • Sexual and reproductive health and rights
  • Global health advocacy
  • Reproductive justice
  • International development
  • Policy research and analysis
  • Human rights
  • Advocacy strategy
  • Multilateral policy processes
  • Gender equality
  • Health systems strengthening

Applicants should carefully review the full Terms of Reference to determine the precise qualifications, experience, methodology, deliverables and submission requirements.

Why This Consultancy Opportunity Matters

Global advocacy can play an important role in influencing policies, financing priorities and international commitments related to sexual and reproductive health and rights.

For the SHIFTS project, understanding the global advocacy environment can help partners identify strategic opportunities to amplify evidence, influence decision-makers and strengthen collaboration across countries and regions.

The consultancy therefore offers an opportunity for experienced SRHR and global advocacy professionals to contribute to an international project addressing important health and rights challenges.
